Aeon Trespass: Odyssey - par Into The Unknown - Livraison Q1 2022

Update #80 - New year's Eve Special

Hey guys!

These December Updates just keep on coming! I promise, this is the last one

2021 in review

This was possibly the hardest year for ITU yet! It was also the one where we grew the most and achieved the most! So, let’s break it down.

The pandemic continued, seemingly unimpeded, creating challenge after challenge: paper prices rose, the container crisis hit over the summer, energy rationing in factories arrived in Autumn. Remote cooperation remained a challenge, as creativity flourishes from direct interactions, while those of us that worked in the office were under constant threat (we had 4 COVID cases since the start of the pandemic, the last one just before Christmas).

Yet, our spirit remained strong and we made considerable progress on all fronts. We finished the Core Game! I still can’t believe that happened. It’s so big, there is so much stuff, so many designs, cards, interactions, thousands of illustrations, so much story… on more than one occasion I reeled from the realization of the scope we were attempting. Now here we are. Unreal. I hope you get the same feeling when you open the box, start playing and, at some point, you realize that what you’ve just experienced is just a drop in the ocean of the deep and varied content we prepared for you.

The odyssey is not quite complete for us, as we’re still hard at work on the Expansions, but this is such a huge milestone, only rivaled by the day you all get the game in your hands!

There’s more content than in the Last Academy!

2021 was also a year of rapid expansion. We hired a lot of people, both into the core Team at the office, as well as many new artists, sculptors, UI designers, writers, editors, you name it. We streamlined a lot of our procedures, we formalized a lot of stuff, and we’re more efficient and agile than ever.

Finally, 2021 was the year we pulled the curtain back on Kingdoms Forlorn. The game was gestating even before we launched the Aeon Trespass: Odyssey KS campaign, but it’s this year, with the arrival of new employees and the winding down of work on AT:O, that we could truly, in good conscience move on the project!

Skyseer Miniature

Last week I missed showing one of the miniatures, namely the Skyseer. I had it, I took the photo, but it got lost among all the others! So here she is, in all of her winged glory.

Swooping in!

Babelian Lunacy Looms!

Aaaaand it’s back, this is 99% complete! Hope you like all the little details!

Are you mad?

Into the Unknown in 2022!

We’re the most busy we have been since the founding of the company, paving the way for Aeon Trespass: Odyssey Core Game shipping and preparing for Kingdoms Forlorn launch. So, what is 2022 going to bring for Into the Unknown?

As mentioned a few updates ago, the Core Game should ship at the end of March/beginning of April 2022, at the moment nothing has change on that timeline! Kingdoms Forlorn launches in February, and we anticipate the campaign will be at least as crazy as the one for ATO 2 years ago!

And beyond that… well. We’re expanding. We’ll be moving to a larger office to accommodate an even larger Team. We always maintained we don’t want to be a one game studio – hence Kingdoms Forlorn – but that is just the start, plans are in motion! And on that note, we promised to support Aeon Trespass: Odyssey for years to come and we will stick to that promise: even after the game is shipped, we will continue to support it with more Mnestis, FAQs, seasonal content and more. There is something looming over next year’s end, like a broken sun…

It’s for you to discover…

Ah merde, ça, ça me rend treeeeees triste…

« For everyone involved in this project, 2022 will be glorious! »

Aeon Trespass: Odyssey PM closes

Just a heads up for those of you who are on the fence: the Aeon Trespass: Odyssey Late Pledges close on the February 1st! If you’re interested in late pledging, the time for that is now!

Aeon Trespass: Odyssey by Into the Unknown Studio - Gamefound

Update #81 - Woe, the Pledge Manager is closing

Hey guys!

January is busy! Odyssey’s production, Kingdoms Forlorn’s launch preparations, Sins of Herakles, W… so busy in fact, that we’re having 2 Updates instead of one! This one’s the shorter of the two, a heads up of sorts, like the other will be jam-packed with information, photos and files (you know which one ;)).

Rulebook’s coming… You can never have too many slots.

The Pledge Manager is closing!

The long-proclaimed end of the Pledge Manager is at hand! The Pledge Manager closes on February 1, so there’s only around two weeks left to late pledge for AT:O, modify your order or change your shipping information! After the PM closes, it will re-open for Wave 2 later in the year, when you already have the Core Game in your hands. Reminder: there is some Wave 1 stuff in there, most notably the CORE GAME, the Gamechanger and Skyseer, which will not be available during Wave 2!

There are some of you who have not yet completed their pledge correctly, either by not choosing your campaign rewards, not putting in your address or not finalizing the order. The status « pledged and paid » on your Gamefound account means that the funds you pledged during the campaign have been taken from your credit card, but does not necessarily mean that your address is complete. So, please double-check your order and fill out any missing missing information, that way your order can be shipped at the earliest possible moment.

If you have any question about your order, you can always contact our Customer Support here: Submit a ticket : Awaken Realms. Just please remember to provide your order number to make things quicker.

The Rulebook is coming… Even more ways to die than in the Prelude!

Kingdoms Forlorn and Aeon Trespass: Odyssey Crossover???

Kingdoms Forlorn: Dragons, Devils and Kings is launching mid-February exclusively on Kickstarter! (check the preview page here.) And we’re here to ask the important questions: would you like to see a cross-over between these two games? And if so, what kind of crossover excites you the most?

We can’t promise anything, but we value your feedback, so, fire away!

It’s not even the biggest one…

The Rulebook, the Insert, the Secret Santa and all the madness…

Rulebook’s coming… Some of these keywords, man.

All of these are coming in the second January update, early next week. This includes a full pdf of the Rulebook (70+ pages!), the white copy, our 6-piece game insert… even the Secret Santa will be illuminated. And you’ll also get how a Rulebook can contain spoilers and why we proloned this  Also, other exciting stuff!!

Update #82 - The Rulebook, the Insert, the Secret Santa!

First of all, I’d like to apologize for the delay on this Update: I said it’d be early next week and it’s Thursday. Poland has been hit with an unprecedented wave of COVID. Though we’re vaxinated, it still took a toll and 30% of our employees are now sick, including some of our tech staff. Still, we’re pushing through!

Now, to the good stuff. Though succinct, this Update packs more content than any other up to date. The insanely detailed Rulebook arrives in pdf for you to peruse and comment, Santa delivers his delayed luminous gift, the tray is here to show how it’s all coming together – and how big the game truly is. After you…

The Rulebook

Important: Before you dive into the Rulebook, and spoil yourself the surprise, check the Secret Santa gift below!

It’s big, it’s gorgeous and it’s finally here. You can get the Rulebook here or by clicking on its image below. The Rulebook is jam-packed with rules, old and new, examples, and a few spoilers here and there (you’ve been warned!). Note: This is the second of the two rules documents you’re getting in ATO, the first one being the Learn to Play. That one does contain story spoilers though!

To check out the Rulebook, follow the clickthrough image of the book’s cover, or click here. You will be taken to our Resources page and there you just need to go to Core Game Rulebook Prototype (under Aeon Trespass: Odyssey). This system is in place to ensure we can swap the pdf later or change the URL (as KS Updates are un-editable after 30 minutes from publishing).

We’re pretty proud of the work that went into this massive book! However, nothing is ever perfect, so we will appreciate any and all feedback. Please leave your notes as comments on the online pdf itself (if possible, do not double notes already left there by another commenter, and please don’t have discussions in the annotations :D). If you can’t leave comments on the pdf, but still want to contribute, please send us an e-mail with the subject “Beta Rulebook Feedback” to our official e-mail address. In it, please formulate your notes into the format “[Page Number][Title][First Line Number][Feedback]”. This will help us sift through your notes more efficiently!

The document is read only (and comment!) - once we gather and apply your feedback, we’ll re-upload the file for download (this is to ensure there aren’t various versions of the Rulebook floating around the web ;)).

Also, if you want to discuss the actual rules or their in-game implications, please go over to our BoardGameGeek forums, the people there are friendly and the discussion lively!

Well, there it is.

What you will still not find in this Rulebook: Cycle-specific rules are placed in the appropriate Storybooks. They will be searchable through a Master Index in the Rulebook though – we’ve removed the Index from the document for now! For the same reason, you won’t find the final Tree of Knowledge in the Mnestis Theatre section!

Important: Before you dive into the Rulebook, and spoil yourself the surprise, check the Secret Santa gift below!

Hello.

The Secret Santa is… a new collectible miniature! Free for every backer!

From the shelved Aeon Trespass: Olympians line, this Exclusive Promo Marker comes to watch over your voyages!

The reason the Rulebook and Tray would have be spoilers

We know you’ve been patiently waiting for Aeon Trespass: Odyssey for almost a year now. It’s a game of unprecedented scale and its development took everything we had, everyone was (and still is!) giving their 100%, and with the last few years falling under the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic, I strongly believe we’re still making great time.

However, we promised you an early 2021 fulfilment date and due to the continued crisis the game is still a few months away from landing in your hands. You deserve to be rewarded for your patience and the trust you put in us.

Due to the pandemic, we’ve scrubbed a few smaller miniature campaigns along the way, folding some into larger projects (the Princesses are now a part of the Kingdoms Forlorn campaign!), while shelving or canceling others. One such project was Aeon Trespass: Olympians, a resin line for the old gods of Olympus who perished before the Eschaton. It was supposed to be a deluxe line of 75mm scale miniatures for collectors and painters. The gods would sport a more classical look, befitting their divine stature.

Only one miniature was conceived, illustrated and sculpted before we decided to shelve the line. Helios, the Sun God. This design sat in our digital archive for a while… but then I thought: let’s put it in Odyssey instead, as a cosmetic reward for our backers!

The miniature isn’t used in gameplay. However, before the Eschaton, the benevolent Sun watched over all mortals, so I thought it’d be fun if we made the Helios miniature into an honorary Priority Target token (for Battles) and Party Leader token (for Adventures).

So, without further ado, I give you the Exclusive Helios Priority Target and Party Leader marker, free for all of our backers and late pledgers! I know, the name is quite a mouthful, but I hope you appreciate the gesture: we wouldn’t be here without you and we are very grateful for your continued support.

And who knows, maybe in a couple of years we’ll revisit the line and make a few more of these! What god would you like to see as a collector’s resin?

It’s actually much larger than it seems. Check out below…

The magnificent Insert

Let’s get this out of the way: this is a pretty ambitious 6 pieces insert! We’ve gone back on its design a few times, most notably to incorporate the frankly ridiculously sized new Priority Target and Party Leader marker (see above)!

So, feast your eyes! The large paper content, the giant punchboards and books, go on top. Then there’s a protective layer of plastic. Then you have an opaque tray for the smaller miniatures to the right, and a transparent one for the giant miniatures with interchangeable parts on the left.

That left segment is made of 3 parts: the upper layer with interchangeable parts (and some stragglers, like the Dawnburner!), a separator that secures the giant miniatures, and the bottom parts with Temenos, Chimera Metastasios and Sun Descendant.

By the way, don’t you hate it when a game has a small miniature add-on and then storing it is a pain, because there’s no place to put it in the game box? The insert will have spaces to incorporate both exclusive Titans, the Gamechanger and Skyseer!

Beneath the opaque miniatures tray, there’s the small paper content tray. Aeon Trespass: Odyssey has a lot of cards. 1980 I believe – but this includes the Secret Decks divider cards for all card sizes and Cycles. As you can see, these are grouped by size. If you look to the top right, you’ll notice there’s a a special sub-section for Explored Map cards that helps with saving the game.

Finally, note the 2 large open areas of the bottom insert. One is designed to store the tokens, the other, larger punchboard elements, like Terrain tiles and Triskelions. These will fit, we’ve checked!

The tray is in final review, there’s a few micro changes we’re doing, including a slightly thicker plastic. And that will be it for the Core Game tray… maybe until the Expansion box rolls in. I have a neat idea for that one that will retroactively enhance your Core Game insert; but that’s for the future

The Battle Board and Story Books (these are THICK).

VP section

We needed to find the space for the Exclusive Statue PT and PL Marker :stuck_out_tongue: Also note there’s a space for the Skyseer and Gamechanger!

The giant Primordial minis are under 2 layers of plastic trays to ensure they are protected from the vagaries of international shipping

And here are the spaces for cards, tiles, tokens, dice, an early look at the envelopes too…

Here’s the box compared to some of its contemporaries. It’s… quite something.

No product placement here :stuck_out_tongue:

The Pledge Manager is still closing!

Just a friendly reminder, the Pledge Manager closes on February 1, so there’s only around a week left to late pledge for AT:O, modify your order or change your shipping information! After the PM closes, it will re-open for Wave 2 later in the year, when you already have the Core Game in your hands. Reminder: there is some Wave 1 stuff in there, most notable the CORE GAME, the Gamechanger and Skyseer, which will not be available during Wave 2! You also won’t be able to upgrade your order to a 5-cycle bundle: the Core Game will already have shipped and only the Expansions will be on offer.

There are some of you who have not yet completed their pledge correctly, either by not choosing your campaign rewards, not putting in your address or not finalizing the order. So, please double-check your order and fill out any missing information, that way your order can be shipped at the earliest possible moment.

If you have any question about your order, you can always contact our Customer Support here: Contact us - Gamefound. Just please remember to provide your order number to make things quicker.

Closing words

Looking back, it’s not such a short and succinct Update as I imagined it would be! I hope you like what you’ve learned from it! We can’t wait to hear from you about the Rulebook, the insert and the new “token/marker”!
