Est il possible de s’inscrire uniquement pour ce KIT?
Merci de vos retours.

Dear Friends!

Game development — especially of the Solo & Cooperative mode — is moving forward. We have quite a few things we can now show you!

Also, we are extending the late pledging period until March 1, and the pledge manager remains open for a little while as well. Please visit it you haven’t done so already!

For those of you who haven’t visited the pledge manager yet — we encourage you not to postpone this! It only takes five minutes. So far, only 78% of the backers have filled out their shipping data. This is actually not enough to give us a clear understanding of how many games should be transported to the hubs around the world!

Please keep in mind that if you don’t provide your shipping address in the pledge manager in time, shipping will be more expensive, as we might have to send you your game from a much further location.

Here is one more topic before we move on to the main part of this update. So… have you ever wondered what it would feel like to create a whole new animal species? You will have a chance in Evolution: New World, the game that allows you to do the work of nature, creating and evolving animals to survive and thrive. The campaign starts soon — click the ‹ Notify me on launch › button to get notified!

Finally, it’s time to share some details about the Solo & Cooperative mode that we have been working on in the recent months. It’s steadily moving towards completion. Playtesting is in full swing, as well as the crafting the game components and writing the rules. But let us guess — you are eager to jump right into the details? Well, buckle up, as we sure have a treat for you!

S&C Hero Missions

In the Solo & Cooperative mode (hereinafter referred to as S&C), three player-controlled Heroes confront the ruthless artificial intelligence of the Great Machine. The mode is available to every backer, including those who ordered the Regular edition — S&C is a part of the core game.

In the One-vs-Many mode (hereinafter OvM), the Heroes have to lead three successful Riots to win. This is the same in S&C, but the Heroes first need to complete three Missions to be able to start a Riot! Each completed Mission allows you to start one Riot. But that’s more to it — the third mission becomes available only when the first two have been completed!

In the core game, there are 4 sets of missions — Know Thy Enemy, Breach in the System, Bugs in the Gears, andResist the Inevitable. To show you how it works, we’ll talk about the first one.

Know Thy Enemy Mission set — The Story

The citizens of the City are used to seeing the Servants as representations of the Great Machine’s infallibility and believe they are invincible. But it is all an illusion! Before their conversion into half-mechanical… beings, the Servants were nothing more than mere humans, and their implants were manufactured by imperfect ordinary workers in carefully guarded factories.

Learn the secrets of the implants from the chief engineer who designed them. Find out who the Servants were before. Turn this knowledge against them and prove to the people that the Servants are vulnerable, and so the Great Machine is vulnerable as well. Only then, those who doubted will dare to openly fight!

There are 3 missions in the Know Thy Enemy Mission set (like every Mission set).

· In the first Mission, Deactivation Trap, the Heroes organize an ambush to temporarily deactivate a Servant who pops into the District.

· In the second, Learn Their Weaknesses, the Heroes collect information about the Servants’ past life to know who they were before the Great Machine mechanized them.

· Finally, the third Mission — Class Consciousness — the Heroes win over a notable representative of one of the citizens’ classes, which dramatically increases the chances of leading successful Riots.

As you can see on the image below, there are quite a few cool and unique tokens that have been created especially for the missions. It’s worth a mention that after playing with all four sets of the core game Missions, you can then (randomly or by choice) combine the cards to create your own Mission sets. It’s less about the storyline, but it adds a lot of options to replayability.

Servants and Guards in S&C

Like in OvM, the Heroes are opposed primarily by the Servants of the Great Machine. Servants move around the City using the Servant Movement cards and then perform actions according to the Action priority order, which is unique for each Servant. They also have different punitive measures they apply to detained Heroes.

In total, the Servants have 10 Movement Cards. Also, there are three Maintenance cards that are used at lower difficulty levels.

In S&C, the Great Machine does not move the Guards between Districts. Instead, it has 9 special Guards at its disposal. These are nine wooden figures, dark blue with a slightly different shape than the regular Guards. You can see the outline of the new Guard on one of the Servant Movement cards above.

The Great Machine adds special Guards to the Districts when a Servant has the Movement Card called ‘Guard Patrol’… or, when the Heroes fail to prevent the execution of the Security Protocol. But that’s something we’ll discuss in the next update! =)

City Life in S&C

In S&C, from time to time you need to determine a random District, and there are special tokens created just for that occasion.

S&C uses completely different City Event cards (which is where the fearsome Security Protocol comes into the scene) and new Directive cards. For those, there is a new artwork for the card backs so you don’t mix up the decks.

Playing S&C

Gameplay

With the exception of the Missions and a couple more differences, the gameplay for the Heroes in S&C remains the same as in the One-vs-Many mode. Actually, if you really want to, you can play the game without Missions at all (which we strongly recommend for your first game).

The Great Machine, on the other hand, operates differently and possesses unlimited resources at its disposal, which allows it to hunt the Heroes down from the first few rounds. The main idea and the feel of the almighty relentless Machine, though, remain unchanged.

Difficulty levels

There are six levels — Novice, Easy, Normal, Hard, Ultra-Hard, and Insane. Difficulty levels are based on combinations of three Benefits that Heroes receive at the beginning or during the game, and the starting position of the Master Plan. Feel free to challenge yourself by choosing harder and harder difficulty levels!

Rules

The S&C rules will be explained in the second part of the Reference Guide. Many key principles covered in the Game Rules apply, so you can keep both booklets open when studying the rules. That is very convenient! We’ve used the “2 booklets approach” in Deep State. New World Order, one of our earlier published games, and it worked really well!

S&C Expansions

The Servants of the Great Machine module (including Chronoleon, as well as the Pockets of Resistance mini-Module), Surveillance Zeppelin, and Oracle Zeppelin can be played both in OvM and S&C. Special Mission sets have been created for each of them.

Yes, you’ve heard it right — there is a Mission set for Servants of the Great Machine too! We decided to go the extra mile even though there was no stretch goal for it! This set is called Moment of Humanity and it is an unusual one — there is a personal Mission card for each of the Servants. The Heroes fulfill special requirements based on the Servant’s nature to persuade them join the course of Revolution for a short while!

Also, the expansions will have a unique and very challenging Aeterna scenario with its own set of Missions. Again, this is something we’ve never talked about before!

In total, combined with the core game, you will get 8 (!) sets of missions if you chose the Master of the City reward. Also note that Missions from the expansions cannot be used in random sets of Missions — they are designed for experienced players and contain unique mechanics.

Modules, as well as the Aeterna scenario, can be combined with each other (with a few exceptions). For example (and a pretty vivid one), you can play using the Surveillance Zeppelin and Servants of the Great Machine modules with the Aeterna scenario and one of the core game Mission sets. This provides for almost-but-not-quite-infinite replayability! Just… uh… do not try combining everything together in your first game! =)

In the next updates, we will tell you more about S&C!

Propaganda Campaign Social SG City Event cards

During the Kickstarter campaign, there was a Propaganda campaign social stretch goal, which ended in a draw between the supporters of the Revolution and the loyalists of the Great Machine. The stretch goal wasn’t unlocked (it was close, though!), so we decided to do something cool for both sides anyway. And we did.

These two exclusive cards will be added to both Regular Edition and Master of the City pledge levels. Technically, you can just add them to the game. Practically, each of the cards represents a unique approach to the game mechanics. We spent a lot of time figuring out how to make them truly unique… and it looks like we have succeeded!

Tactical Retreat

The Heroes manage to carry out a diversion by temporarily disabling several Guards in the City. Now, it’s the Great Machine’s turn to make a decision. Instead of repairing the Guards, it can return them to the City broken, giving the Revolutionaries false hope and advancing the Master Plan. Or the Great Machine may simply return them to any Districts in full working condition.

The advantage for the Heroes — for one round there are fewer guards in the City! The advantage for the Great Machine is that it places Guards where it most needs them, and at the same time it can simply advance the Master Plan if it’s a better strategy. Which, however, helps the Heroes too, as the broken Guards untie their hands!

Cat & Mouse Game

Sometimes, the genre of City of the Great Machine is called Cat & Mouse Game — the cat (the Great Machine) tries to catch the mice (the Revolutionaries). This City Event turns the situation 180 degrees: the mice (well, rats!) surround the cat in a sewer under city streets.

In this event, the Servants seek to escape from the Heroes. While they are not being watched, they can take the necessary steps to advance the Master Plan. Quietly. Unnoticed, unseen, unheard. Meanwhile, the Heroes’ task is to predict where Servants will go and be there. This City Event card changes the whole course of the game for one round! However… mice should never underestimate a cat!

Now you know everything that is going on now! We’re working at full steam, and we are absolutely happy with the results we achieved. The Solo & Cooperative mode is just amazing, and everything in the game is very close to completion. And to share our happiness with you — that is, to send you the game — please make sure to visit the pledge manager if you still haven’t!

What’s next? Well, for starters, we will show you the final model of the Surveillance Zeppelin. Of course, there’s more to come, but we’ll keep you intrigued for now!

Stay tuned!

Yours,

Salut,
