Hello everyone!
First off, apologies for the delay in this update—but we come bearing great news!
We’ve officially locked in our orders and submitted all final files. A huge thank you to all our backers who completed their orders in the pledge manager! Now that we have a clear picture of what’s ahead, we’re one step closer to getting the game into your hands.
Production Status
We’ve been eagerly awaiting our mass production copy to arrive at our office. However, due to the Lunar New Year, our timeline experienced a slight delay. We now expect it to arrive next week for what we hope will be our final quality check. Rather than risk missing an update in February, we wanted to check in with you all now!

New Cover Art & Artbook Reveal
We’re happy to share that Senkawa Teien created the new cover art for our game, and we couldn’t be happier with it! This new artwork better represents the game’s theme and mechanics, making it a perfect fit.
On top of that, we’ve wrapped up the artbook, and it looks stunning! The hardcover will feature a lenticular print, which we can’t wait to see in person. Check out the link below to preview both the artbook and our finalized rulebook.

Final Call for Pledge Manager Orders!
The pledge manager deadline has officially passed, but since our mass production was slightly delayed, we’re extending the deadline for two more weeks. If you haven’t finalized your order yet, this is your last chance! After that, we won’t be able to accept any more orders, and any incomplete pledges will be automatically discarded. Link below:

Once again, thank you all for your incredible support. We’ll be back soon—hopefully with an unboxing video in just a few days! Stay tuned!
J’aime bien les projets « dans les temps »
C’est tout de même rigolo que, tous les ans, les porteurs de projets soient retardés par le nouvel an lunaire. ^^
En tout cas, merci pour le suivi des infos ![]()

March Update: Big News and Exciting Upgrades!
Publié par Esper Game Studio
mars 31, 2025
Hi everyone,
Apologies for the delay in getting this March update to you. A lot has been happening behind the scenes, and we wanted to make sure everything was settled before sharing the news.
Let’s start with the biggest update:
We’re thrilled to announce a new partnership with CMON, who will be our licensing partner for the Simplified Chinese release of JISOGI! Their team is already working on the translation, and a pre-order campaign is in the works. Their production run will follow closely after ours, so we expect the Chinese version to be available just a few months after the English edition ships.
This partnership has allowed us to increase our print quantity and reduce the per-unit cost. Instead of pocketing the savings, we chose to reinvest them into making JISOGI even better! Here’s what’s being upgraded: UV finish on the box; Printed inner lid; Acrylic first-player token; Reverse varnish gloss on the foil cards; Lenticular print on the art book cover; Thicker pages in the art book for a more premium feel. Everything is looking absolutely beautiful!
We’ve also had our fair share of new challenges, especially when working with plastic components. One big improvement we’re proud of is the removable tray designed to hold all the script parts. It keeps things organized and easy to set up on the table. It took several rounds of prototyping to get the materials and sizing right—each mistake cost us 1–2 weeks—but it was worth it.
Now, the final insert design fits all cards (sleeved or not), keeps script parts secure and accessible, and holds the boards snugly without shifting when the box is closed.
One component we couldn’t quite get right, however, was the plastic tray for the Art Patron box. We aimed for a more complex design to hold trend cards vertically during gameplay, but after multiple attempts, it just didn’t meet our standards. It was bulky, visually unappealing, and ultimately didn’t work the way we envisioned.
Instead, we’ve decided to replace it with a set of two custom fabric bags for storing game components—practical, and aligned with the overall design. We’ll be receiving final samples of the bags and pin badges once production begins.
It’s been a long (and sometimes bumpy) journey, but it’s also been incredibly rewarding. We truly believe this is the best version of JISOGI we could have made, and we can’t wait for you to experience it.
Here are some photos to give you a sneak peek! We uploaded an unboxing video on our Instagram and Twitter pages.

Thank you, as always, for your incredible support and patience.
*One more important notice, with the factory production ongoing, we have officially closed our Pledge Manager. If you were unable to finish that step for a reasonable reason, please reach out to us and we will try our best to accommodate you.
Merci ! ![]()
Waaaah c’est magnifique
Merci pour l’update
Je suis d’accord je pense qu’on va avoir un super jeu. Un poil cherros mais un beau jeu qu’on ne trouvera pas ailleurs ![]()
Hello everyone! We hope you’re all doing well. It’s time for our April update, and we’ve got quite a lot to share.
Production Status
First, the good news: production is moving along smoothly! Both the English and Japanese versions of the game are progressing without any issues. There may be a slight delay of about one week due to the long holiday period in China, but overall, we are on track. Here are a few behind-the-scenes photos from our factory to show you how things are coming together:

Once production wraps up, we’ll move on to palletizing and preparing the games for shipment to fulfillment hubs around the world.
U.S. Tariff Update: A Difficult Decision
Now, on to a more difficult topic. As many of you may know, the ongoing U.S.–China trade war has introduced tariffs on goods manufactured in China—including board games like ours. The current 145% tariff essentially acts as a blockade for small independent creators like us. It’s not just a high tax—it’s financially unworkable. This puts us in a tough spot: either pass the additional cost onto our U.S. backers, or delay shipments in hopes that the situation improves.
After careful consideration, we’ve decided to wait.
There’s been no consistent policy, and reacting now might result in backers paying more than necessary if the tariffs are reduced—or worse, not enough if they increase. So here’s the plan: We will wait up to two months. At the start of June, if the tariffs remain in place, we may need to charge U.S. backers a supplemental fee: $15 for Core Game backers; $20 for Art Pledge backers.
We understand this is disappointing and will offer refunds to anyone who cannot cover the extra charge. That said, we sincerely hope this worst-case scenario won’t come to pass.
Backers in all other regions will not be affected. Shipments to these will proceed as soon as the games are ready.
We appreciate your patience—especially since, as we navigate these challenges with a small team, delays might occur. We will work without stopping to make sure all goes as fast as possible.
About the Chinese Version and CMON
We’ve also received questions about our Chinese partner, CMON, due to recent headlines about their finances. We want to clarify: CMON is not involved in the production or delivery of this Kickstarter campaign.
Our partnership with CMON is strictly for the localization and future distribution of the game in Greater China. The English and Japanese versions of JISOGI are 100% owned, developed, produced, and fulfilled by our team.
CMON has completed localization, and production of the Chinese edition is scheduled to begin not too far in the future. They’ve reassured us that their internal issues won’t affect this product, and we remain optimistic.
Rest assured—none of this impacts the delivery of your game.
Final Thoughts & What’s Next
That was a lot to cover, but we want to leave you on a positive note!
Despite the difficulties posed by the tariff situation, our team is in a strong position. Thanks to our base in Japan and a diverse international community of backers, we’ve been able to plan and adapt carefully. We are actually really active, with many amazing projects coming down the pipeline. We even have a little teaser to share…
We’re thrilled to announce that our next game will be coming to Kickstarter this August! We’ve assembled an incredible team of designers, developers, and artists—we’ve more than doubled our art budget this time. JISOGI was already a triumph for us, we hope to go even higher with this new IP! And it is all thanks to your support.
Here’s a sneak peek at one of the key visuals by the amazing Thomas Romain:

If you are planning to come to the Game Market convention happening in Tokyo next month (17-18), make sure to stop by our booth F11. We will do the first public presentation of the game! We cannot wait to share more with you!
Thank you, as always, for your trust and support.
c’est rigolo de voir que pour nous la guerre des prix ne change rien ![]()
