New Summoner Wars Comic Brings Hit Fantasy Game To Life

Summoner Wars has established a strong reputation in the card game market over the years, picking up fans with the original release in 2009 and earning critical acclaim with 2021’s second edition. Now, the fantasy game franchise is bringing the story of Itharia to the world of comics.
Screen Rant can exclusively announce that Battle Quest Comics will be releasing a Summoner Wars comic series, in collaboration with tabletop publisher Plaid Hat Games. The new comic will be co-written by Paul Cornell and Justin Zimmerman, with art by Patrick Macchi, coloring by Mo Hollowell, a story by Plaid Hat Games, and covers by Plaid Hat’s Martin Abel. Battle Quest Comics is bringing the new release to stores this fall.
Summoner Wars Is Getting Its First Comic Series
For those who haven’t played Summoner Wars, the deck-building card game focuses on factions with diverse gameplay opportunities. The composition of decks is important, of course, but clever use of the board game layout is also crucial to mastering spatial strategy in the game.
True to its name, the game is built around the concept of a long-running war in the fantasy world of Itharia. With a story from Plaid Hat Games, the comic will presumably follow the same core ideas. Battle Quest Comics seems like the perfect fit for the material, as both the publisher’s name and its flagships like No’madd: The Unconquerableand Steel Siege would attest. This news follows another announcement from last week that Battle Quest will be expanding into bookstores this month.
Battle Quest Promises A Classic Comic Experience
For now, details about the comic are relatively sparse, but Zimmerman describes a story « that’s a comic first, and an event second, » promising that « each and every page is created to blow your mind. » In an era where each issue of the average superhero comic can feel like little more than a minor slice from a large crossover story, this priority sounds refreshing.
Cornell notes that he’s « loved writing dialogue for such quirky characters in this fun and adventure-packed world . » The covers fit the description (and the art design established in the card game), with expressive styling and a dash of Saturday-morning cartoon energy.
The official release date for the Summoner Wars comic will be announced in conjunction with the ComicsPRO Annual Meeting in February. Until then, Summoner Wars players will likely just be happy to know that something is on its way, and fans of fantasy comics in general might also want to keep an eye on this one.

Pas encore, je pense qu’il lui faut des joueurs francais qui lui demandent une suite de la trad (pas spécifiquement des PnP)
