ANNOUNCING THE THORNHOLD DREY AND MOONSTEPPE WOLVES!

Plaid Hat Games is pleased to announce the upcoming release of two bold new additions to Summoner Wars! There’s an ill wind blowing in Itharia, and it brings with it the cries of fearsome beasts. Whether it’s the howling of wolves or the angry chittering of squirrels counting their nuts, the Summoner Wars have grown even more dangerous!

From a lonely wood lurking upon a blasted steppe, comes the vicious Luna Nightsong and her Moonsteppe Wolves! A decade ago, Luna gave into the lure of her cursed blood, and now strives to remain in her lycan form as much as possible. Beware the Blood Moon, for it helps Luna do just that, feeding her curse and giving her the means to sate her appetite for violence!

Fenn Timberheart is driven to prepare his people for the Final Harvest. The squirrels want nuts, and they shall have them! His wary skirmishers make use of the terrain around them, ensconcing themselves in brambly bunkers for protection. But beware, for the warriors of the Thornhold Drey are capable of launching ambushes where least expected!

We hope you’re eagerly looking forward to the Moonsteppe Wolves and Thornhold Drey, releasing in Q2 of 2026! We’ll begin previewing the rest of the cards for these two factions as their release draws near.

THORNHOLD DREY AND MOONSTEPPE WOLVES: PREVIEW 2

Welcome back Summoners! Last week we showed off the summoners for the Thornhold Drey and Moonsteppe Wolves, along with their epic events. This week we’ll be covering their common units. First, some squirrels:

The intrepid Bramble Knight is especially nimble, particularly with structures, and just like the squirrels at your local park, it can get tougher in a gang.

The scouts of the Drey are master snipers, frustrating their foes by popping in and out of cover with ease. Even worse, each time they appear they can get themselves in line for the perfect shot!

Guild Tinkerers can foil would-be attackers as easily as the scouts. But what good are structures if your enemy destroys them? Keep some Tinkerers handy to keep your defenses in tip-top shape.

The Thistle Wizard will combo with your knights to keep your structures boosted and the knights squadded up. And fitting in with the faction’s theme, they’re also fast and able to pass through structures!

You can really see how the mostly-ranged Thornhold Drey are all about combining their speed and maneuverability with structures. But what about those howling wolves?

The new blood of the Moonsteppe Wolves aren’t the hardest-hitting units, but oh my, they can’t wait to sink their teeth into enemy summoners. Their Follow Scent ability makes Luna’s wolfing out even more enticing!

Wait, more Wolf synergy? Yep! These bestial baddies combo nicely with each other and their transformed masters.

Moonlight Hunters lend ranged firepower to the warriors of the Moonsteppe, but can also be used to heal up Wolves located in critical positions!

Some member of the Moonsteppe Wolves are never ever able to reclaim their humanity. These lost souls are the most feared members of the pack, able to call other commons to their side. And the fact that they can boost each other and other Wolves, only makes them more fearsome.

THORNHOLD DREY AND MOONSTEPPE WOLVES: PREVIEW 3

Welcome back Summoners! We’ve been previewing the upcoming Thornhold Drey and Moonsteppe Wolves. Today we’ll be taking a look a the champions of these two new decks, and learn how these heavy-hitters support their factions. First, let’s look at the Thornhold Drey.

Vira Ironbranch is delightfully cheap, and at first glance more resembles a common unit. But this powerful champ is less about cutting her way through the enemy’s frontlines, and more about bolstering her fellow squirrels. She’s got the same Take Post ability we’ve seen with the Gladewatch Scouts and Guild Tinkerers, helping her make hit and run attacks or scramble to new defensive positions. But her real power comes from Post Commander, allowing her to boost common units adjacent to her hiding place. Played right, your Bramble Knights can get even more scary, or station some Thistle Wizards next to her for both boosted attacks, and a way to keep Vira’s defenses in tip-top shape!

It’s a structure, it’s a champion, and it lives up to its name. The Nutcracker can help support your Bramble Knights and is a great place for wounded squirrels to hide away.

Ah yes, another tough structure to stuff a squirrel into, and doing so gives you a bonus attack!

These champions offer you some complex interactions with your common units, allowing you to set up some powerful combinations on the battlefield. But what about those Moonsteppe Wolves?

We’ve already seen the effects of Wolf Form on the summoner, Luna, and some common units like the Pack Initiate. Here we see it again in the terrifying figure of Remus Nightsong. This guy can push deep into enemy territory, killing as he goes.

Rommi lacks Remus’ hardiness, but makes up for it by appearing with a retinue of common units. Paired with units like the Pack Initiate or Pack Wolves, your opponent can suddenly find themselves in a position they were unprepared for!

The Wolf Spirit comes in hard, potentially adjacent to your summoner. It doesn’t have tons of life, but at a cost of 3 and a terrific Lunge, it can potentially get into the mix right away, and sow chaos among your opponent’s ranks!

THORNHOLD DREY AND MOONSTEPPE WOLVES: PREVIEW 4

Welcome back Summoners! We’ve been previewing the upcoming Thornhold Drey and Moonsteppe Wolves. We’ve already revealed the summoners, common units, and champions of the newest factions to appear in Itharia. Today we will be wrapping up previews with a look at the events that make these combatants even more distinct. First, let’s look at the wolves.

In Itharia, you can get a lot for a little blood. This this case, you get magic and some serious card draw.

As we saw in the previous previews, the Moonsteppe Wolves love working together. Pack Formation makes that even easier.

Prowl lets your forces push deeper into the enemy’s territory. Your opponent might think their summoner is safe for a round, cowering behind a common unit, but Pounce can quickly change that situation!

Next, lets see what kind of events the folk of Thornhold have at their disposal.

You knew it was coming, but here is the Tanglewood Bunker! Wounded squirrels can escape fate by ducking into one of these, and even better, units inside it can ping enemies.

Sheer madness. Load the the Lumberwheel up with squirrels and see the world! Pile on the boost and let it crush your foes as you go!

The folk of Thornhold know preparation is the key to victory. Bursting Stores ensures the boost tokens flow freely, and can frustrate enemies already desperate to shut down your structures.
