Update #1 - Labyrinth Chronicles – What’s Coming?
Check out the very first news about Labyrinth: Chronicles - our take on one of the most popular board games ever!
Hello!
First of all, thank you. Over 16,500 of you have already followed Labyrinth Chronicles, and that’s before we’ve shown you the real depths of this maze! We’re beyond excited to see this level of early interest, and we hope to see this number keep climbing as we reveal more and more in the coming months.
Let’s kick things off with the most important piece of news:
We’re planning to launch pre-orders in Q1 2026.
Yes, you heard that right – a preorder, not a traditional crowdfunding campaign.
Here’s what that means in practice:
We aim to have the game already produced and on ships by the time the preorder opens. That means if you pledge when the preorder goes live, you should receive your copy within about a month. And once we sell through that first batch (fingers crossed), new orders will be fulfilled roughly 6 months later once the second batch is manufactured.
We’ll discuss the full logistics of this system in a future update, but today, we wanted to lay the foundation and let you know what’s coming.
Right now, we’re deep in development. The game is being tested and showcased extensively — at conventions, events, and in private sessions. Just this month, dozens of players in Wrocław had the chance to experience the prototype at the One More Game event.
Our friends at Ravensburger will also be showcasing Labyrinth Chronicles at several major fairs around the world, including:
- InterOcio in Madrid
- Play Bologna in Bologna
- UK Games Expo in Birmingham
- Gen Con in Indianapolis
- Spiel in Essen
- Lucca Comics & Games in Italy
So if you’re attending any of those, keep an eye out. The maze might just be waiting for you.
What is Labyrinth Chronicles?
We’ll explore different parts of the game in detail throughout our updates, but today we wanted to leave you with an introduction from Janek Truchanowicz, lead designer of the game’s Adventure Mode:
Hi, I’m Janek, the designer behind Labyrinth Chronicles, and I want to share a little about what this game really is.
Progression-based board games have fascinated me ever since Pandemic Legacy launched nearly a decade ago. What drew me in was the evolving gameplay — simple at its core but rich in progression. At the same time, I’ve always loved roguelite video games, which add new elements with each run, keeping the experience fresh and exciting.
Chronicles combines the best of both worlds. Think of it as a fully replayable system, without destructive mechanics. No tearing, no stickers. This fully replayable board game builds on the best elements of various progression systems through our Adventure Mode.
Of course, we’re also including the classic Labyrinth experience that many of you remember from your childhood — but reimagined with a new visual identity, stronger narrative, and modern gameplay twists.
We’re creating a game that evolves between plays, guided by achievements and player progression.
Labyrinth Chronicles blends different mechanics and roguelite design into one cohesive experience.
- It’s cooperative — ideal for families playing together or seasoned groups aiming for high scores
- It has a narrative core, with new heroes and backstories to unlock
- It’s fully replayable — you can reset and play again with a different path
- It features magnet-based village building, adding a satisfying physical layer to progression
- The campaign is non-linear, offering fresh discoveries each time you reset
- And of course, there’s a full achievement system that reshapes the gameplay loop
Vote for the Warrior’s design!
And we also have one icing on the cake before we finish our very 1st Labirynth update!
As already said, we are incredibly happy to see how warmly you have welcomed the Labyrinth Chronicles announcement during the AR Next 2025 event. And even though we are planning a preorder this time, we still want you to have a real influence on the project, just like always.
Today, we invite you to take part in a very important decision: choosing the final look of our first hero. Meet the Warrior — a brave but lonely fighter, cursed by a strange magic. A burning flame lives inside him, taking a real, visible form. Because of this, many people fear him when they meet him, even though they have no reason to.
In the upcoming updates, you will learn more about him and about the curses that will play a big role in the story of Labyrinth Chronicles.
For now, we need your help. We have two versions of our Warrior to show you. One shows him as a proud, fearless fighter — someone who meets danger face to face without hesitation. The other shows him as a smart and careful hunter, patient and striking at the perfect moment. Both versions capture the spirit of a lion, but in very different ways.
Which one do you feel fits our cursed hero better? Your vote will decide. Help us create the world of Labyrinth Chronicles together!
That’s it for our very first update — but many more are on the way. We’re aiming to start mass production in Q3 2025, and we’ll keep you informed every step of the way.
In the meantime, let us know in the comments:
What are you most excited about in Labyrinth Chronicles? What do you want to know more about?
And don’t forget to vote!
This is just the beginning.
The maze is shifting.
