The Bad News

I know you have just clicked on this update perhaps with a bit of shock, but for some of you who have been keeping a close eye on world events, perhaps with a knowing nod. It has taken us a long time to get to this point, crunchingnumbers and trying to work out how much of a loss we could handle in order to meet the final wave of Pacific Rim: Extinction. We have come to the conclusion that it is simply unfeasible. With the rise of manufacturing costs and the insane uptick in costs for container shipping, warehouse fulfillment, and courier delivery to your door, it has already been unprofitable to ship wave 2, and wave 3 would be unsustainable.

The Kickstarter campaign we ran was originally costed at the prices of the time, before Brexit, before the coronavirus outbreak, and before the current shipping crisis. Each event has made this project tighter and tighter until we have started thinking in terms of minimizing loss rather than maximizing profit. It is doubly worse for a product that relies on customers being able to gather at clubs and stores, play with each other and spend time in the same room.

So those are our reasons, and it is with a heavy heart that we must say: Pacific Rim Extinction Wave 3 has been forced to go digital.
