:one: The Penitents – Each Penitent plays differently, not just in terms of abilities but in how they approach combat, exploration, and quest resolution. Some are better at direct confrontation, while others excel at tactical movement or missions management.
[…]
Regarding Penitents’ strengths and weaknesses, each has a unique skill set and thematic focus. Some rely on brute force, others on agility and speed, while some use fervor-based skills or defensive capabilities. Their abilities evolve based on how you shape them during the game, so no two playthroughs feel the same.

? C’est un plateau supplémentaire, the Map of the Dream.

Will you join the Processions?

Mise à jour #25|100%xauto

Daily Stretch Goals, Procession Rules overview and much more!

Hello, Penitents!

The countdown is getting closer and closer and the next few days will be hectic as always, so let’s enjoy this “calm before the storm” and take another in-depth look at the rules!

So, today we are going to tell you about Processions. If you want to know how they work, read on!

The Procession Card system - The Unstoppable Return of the Menace

In the world of Blasphemous: The Board Game, death is not an end, but an incessantly repeating cycle.

The Procession Card system ensures that the Enemies are never permanently defeated, reflecting the oppressive and mystical atmosphere of the video game. These cards represent the relentless return of the creatures corrupted by the Miracle, who continue to haunt Cvstodia, turning every journey into a constant struggle against the inevitable.

Other than repopulating the game world with Enemies, Procession Cards also allow for the appearance of Witnesses, friendly or hostile characters that activate special mechanics during the game, influencing the fate of the Penitents.

How do Procession Cards work?

Procession Cards are used to:

  • Repopulate the map with defeated Enemies, keeping the threat constant.
  • Make Witnesses appear, introducing narrative events and key characters.
  • Change the course of the game, forcing Penitents to carefully plan their path and resources.

When are the Procession Cards drawn?

Procession Cards are drawn at various key moments:

  • At the end of a Penitent’s turn: If one of the two spaces on the Miracle Board (the ones furthest to the left) showing the “Procession” symbol is empty and doesn’t contain an Enemy Card.
  • When an Enemy’s Fury Rises: If the Fury Cube reaches a “Procession” symbol, the card is immediately drawn and applied.
  • Reading the Tomes: Some game paragraphs may require you to draw or search for a specific Procession Card to generate new Enemies or activate Witness-related events.

What does a Procession Card feature?

Each Procession Card contains crucial information for the game:

  • Enemy Type and Level: Indicates which Enemy appears on the Map and its level. Some spaces on the Miracle Board (the three on the far left) can only hold Enemies of a certain level.
  • Spawn Position: Each card lists a series of Areas, read from left to right, that determine where to place the Enemy models, provided there are still any available in the game reserve.
  • Special Effects: Some Enemies, and all Witnesses, include special rules for their spawn, modifying the game behavior or introducing new challenges.

Procession Cards make the world of Cvstodia alive, hostile and constantly changing. Even if an enemy is defeated, they can always return, forcing the Penitents to remain vigilant and carefully manage every resource. The inclusion of Witnesses in the Procession Cards introduces a further narrative and strategic level, allowing you to encounter iconic Blasphemous characters, such as Deogracias or Redento, or face Bosses who don’t take part in the Pilgrimage, such as Nemeses, by including them in the game for an extra challenge.

So, what do you think of this other game feature? As always, your ideas and suggestions are very welcome!

Daily Stretch Goal

With today’s Stretch Goal we continue the second series of Alternative Penitent Cards with the Penitent of the Golden Contrition!

By embracing the Penitence of the Unwavering Faith, the Penitent of the Golden Contrition devotes their entire being to prayer and the healing of the soul, abandoning all violence to get in touch with the voice of the Miracle itself.

Merging with the emanations of the dream they become similar to an Abomination of the Miracle, gaining impenetrable defenses and the gift of being able to walk undisturbed among the Enemies.

Their senses are heightened, enabling them to discover the mysteries of Cvstodia with even more Zeal.

Social Stretch Goal

As always, we remind you that there are various social media challenges that will add new material to your Reward!

Isidora and a new Witness!

Hello, Penitents!

Welcome back to Cvstodia with a new update full of news and content to deepen your knowledge of Blasphemous: The Board Game!

Let’s start with today’s Daily Stretch Goal, which adds a new Witness to your Rewards, and so another of the famous NPCs from the video game comes to life in the board game—Redento!

Bound by the vow and the burden of penance, Redento advances without ever raising his gaze, his head bowed under the weight of a sacred yoke. His hands clasped behind his back, his feet bound by a rope, his pilgrimage is an act of absolute faith, a non-stop march along a path that only he can see.

Every encounter with him is marked by an obstacle, a barrier that separates him from his goal. Yet he does not complain of the pain, nor does he ask for help—he only reflects on the trial before him, accepting it as part of his atonement.

Redento doesn’t stop, doesn’t turn back, doesn’t look behind him. He keeps going, because to turn back would mean to betray his vow. But only the Miracle knows what the real purpose of his pilgrimage is, or if there is an end to it.

This Stretch Goal not only adds a miniature of one of Blasphemous’ most beloved characters, but also brings with it new possibilities for gameplay and replayability!

After welcoming Redento, it’s time to give a proper introduction to one of the most important Stretch Goals of this campaign!

Isidora’s Pilgrimage – The Song of the Dead

Isidora’s Pilgrimage is a test of faith and endurance in which the Penitents must join forces to face an enemy that can’t be stopped by force of arms alone. This is a collaborative quest, for only by working together can the Penitents break the curse that has befallen Albero and confront the Voice of the Dead in her domain.

Isidora can’t be reached directly. Hidden in the shadows of the ossuary beneath Albero, her presence envelops Cvstodia in a wave of despair and torment. To reach her, the Penitents must complete a series of Public Quests on behalf of the mysterious Collector, gathering the stolen sacred bones and returning them to their place of eternal rest.

Only when all the relics have been returned will the sealed gate open, revealing the arena where Isidora awaits the Penitents, protected by the power of the Miracle and by the fury of the souls that answer her call.

As the Penitents search Cvstodia for the bones, Isidora’s song never ceases to resonate. With each note, the defeated Enemies will return to life, emerging from their graves with renewed ferocity. Each turn, new Procession Cards will be revealed, repopulating the Map with the abominations of the Miracle, making the advance of the Penitents increasingly dangerous.

But Isidora’s voice doesn’t just bring the dead back to life—it also bends the forces of nature, unleashing whirlwinds of flames and shadows across all of Cvstodia. Regions will become hostile and inaccessible, making traveling a constant challenge against a world that rebels against the Penitents’ advance.

When the Penitents finally manage to break the seal of the ossuary and reach Isidora, they will have to face her in an epic combat where any mistake can be fatal. Her song won’t cease even during the battle, and the flames will continue to burn, but this time they will torment the Penitents in the Arena.

But victory is not the only thing motivating the Penitents. Isidora guards her greatest treasure, an artifact of immense power given to her by the Miracle itself for reasons unknown—the Right Eye of the Traitor. Only by taking this cursed relic from her will the Penitents be able to break her hold over Cvstodia and put an end to her deathly chant once and for all.

However, what the Miracle has granted us is not taken away without consequences…

A Complete Expansion!

As you may have noticed, starting from the 1 million milestone, we have unlocked a series of Stretch Goals related exclusively to Isidora. The release of this Nemesis was part of our plans from the start, and indeed it was in the form of an expansion. To celebrate this important milestone, we’ve decided to give it to all backers by breaking it down into a series of Stretch Goals that will accompany us until all the material is available.

ATM we unlocked:

  • 1000K: Isidora’s Miniature and her most fearsome attacks, the Fervent Combat Cards.
  • 1015K: Isidora’s standard attacks Combat Cards
  • 1030K: The Cooperative Pilgrimage Setup Cards to guide the setup of the game.
  • 1045K: The Pilgrimage Cards that hold Isidora’s secrets and, if revealed, allow you to face her on equal terms.
  • 1060K: The Witness Card to use Isidora even when she’s not included as Nemesis in the Pilgrimage.
  • 1075K:??

Isidora has arrived in this campaign bringing a real expansion for free, with a new Boss and all the amount of materials that each boss brings with them, such as cards, places, tokens, and 2 Pilgrimages to be able to face her in both cooperative and competitive mode (spoiler!). Isidora can also be used as a Hostile Witness in any game that doesn’t see her as the Final Nemesis!

To sum it up, The Song of the Dead is truly a fantastic addition to your reward! The question now is: will there be other Stretch Goals of this level? Well… the 4 new Penitents who are scrambling to enter Cvstodia are very sure there will!
