Punaise on peut même plus se moquer de SPG … bon bah je retourne déverser mon seau de fiel sur le sujet claustrophobia

@pitpipo merci pour les infos

XD

Temps de la partie ? Victoire ou défaite ? Est ce qu’en solo ça ne te semblerait pas trop lourd, trop too much ? Stp.

Update :

”I know that the only real piece of information you want to know is WHERE IS MY STUFF? Here’s a quick summary:

  • No region has begun fulfillment proper (packages actually in the mail), but all regions will begin soon.
  • As I wrote in my [last update regarding the schedule]
I still expect fulfillment to happen this month (January), though sadly my hope for a lucky few to get some in December did not happen.
  • Asia hub has everything, and has already done nearly all the sorting and preparing, and will begin sending out packages very soon.
  • US, Canada, EU and Australia all still waiting on some stretch goal items to arrive at their warehouses (stretch goals). Some still at port (Australia) and not yet in customs, some still in customs (EU and Canada), some (like US) had multiple air freights, given the amount of stuff, and it all just hasn’t arrived yet, due to holidays, but will soon.
  • As soon as each region has all its stuff it will immediately begin preparing all orders, with no delays. All fulfillment warehouses know this is top priority, and have told us they will process orders as fast as possible when everything has arrived.

I know this is not as fast and soon as everyone hoped based on my [last update]regarding the schedule, but the holidays hath slowed things down.

I apologize again for the dearth of updates in December. As [I wrote previously], the Petersens had a lot going in this past month, beyond even the holidays. But it turned out to be EVEN BUSIER than I had anticipated. During December, one of Sandy’s childhood and life long best friend’s passed away - Bill Hamblin, an eminent Mideast historian - and Sandy made a quick, unexpected trip out of state to the funeral. And then on Christmas Eve, my grandfather, Sandy’s father-in-law, passed away and so there was additional, unexpected traveling out of state for THAT funeral.

None of this has impacted shipping on PA, or work on any other active projects, but it did impact my ability to write regular and timely updates. I always prioritize getting the work proper done, over updating y’all, which I know can be frustrating if you are antsy to know what’s going on. But I do strive to write weekly updates, and the hiatus in this regard is over. Here’s the first weekly update of 2020!

A Larva (of Hell) Sized History

Several backers have asked, implicitly and explicitly, why PA is so “[delayed]” I can explain by dividing the timeline into the four phases of getting this beast made:

  1. Art, sculpting, design, editing, layout were all done before the Kickstarter. This is what we refer to as « China Ready » - ready to deliver the game to the factory. However, we had two surprise stretch goals (Cthulhu and Spider Mastermind), and a complete revamp of layout by Universal Head (due to backer feedback). This layout revamp did not impact the schedule because any impact it would have had was swallowed up by the tooling timeline which took longer anyway.

  2. The tooling took forever – like 9 months longer. We needed this extra time to get the details just right. This is one of two key unanticipated bottlenecks.

  3. The mass manufacturing was pretty quick. It actually took a few months SHORTER than we said it would take. It just began long after we anticipated it would begin, due to tooling.

  4. Well…mass manufacturing was quick except for the missing SGs . These took an additional many months because it was an unexpected project for the factory at a very busy time.

A Lord (of Hell) Sized History

The campaign ended on Feb. 26 2018. It’s been about 97 weeks since then. I’ve posted 86 updates since the campaign ended (not counting this one). That’s pretty close to once a week, even taking into account posting very few this past month. I’m sure many of you will want a memory refresher (I know I didn’t recall everything, and in re-reading my old updates I found many things I had forgotten happened). This “summary” is nearly 2000 words long. I had to go back and read quite a bit more than that to summarize it all.

I’m not going to post much that is new regarding Planet Apocalypse’s post-KS campaign history, and will largely just link and summarize the most relevant updates throughout the past 22 months, while leaving out dozens and dozens of updates regarding non-schedule things. I may add a teensy bit of commentary here are there. You know Arthur can’t help himself:

In late May 2018, [I posted that]things are going fine. At this point, it was still in the early tooling stage.

On July 4th, 2018, [I posted that]I’d have the “red wax” samples – an important stage of tooling – in a few weeks. Although I did NOT note this in the update, the timeline posted on the KS had tooling complete by end of June. Obviously, by posting in early July that tooling wasn’t complete, we were behind the originally projected timeline. Tooling would turn out to be a major bottleneck on this project. At that time I didn’t know that. But in this update I did state “I want to take the timeline ONE STEP AT A TIME.” [emphasis in original]. Even so, I wrote that I believed we were still on schedule for a Feb. delivery.

On July 26th, 2018, [I posted that]the size of the free Great Cthulhu stretch goal was giving the factory trouble during tooling. I plainly stated that this would slightly impact the schedule, but that I didn’t know the “full nature” of the impact. Remember, the Great Cthulhu stretch goal was a last minute addition to the project, and its size impacted tooling.

In August 2018, [I posted] met with our factory in a long meeting at GenCon. Based on this conversation, I posted our expectation is that we’d ship out by end of January.

In October 2018 [I posted some tooling samples]stating that “we are getting close” [to the end of tooling].

In early November [I posted an update]showing some more tooling pics and areas where I was showing things that weren’t up to the quality I wanted. I stated that “most EVERYTHING ELSE is final and good to go!” [emphasis in original], and showed several tooling images of these that are final.

For a [Thanksgiving update, I posted]some more tooling pics. Many backers posted negatively regarding these – particularly that the surface detail wasn’t great. So in the [next update], I stated these minis weren’t done yet, and they will be revised and look much better.

In mid-December, 2018, [I posted an update] with the revised tooling of the minis that were criticized. I noted that the end of tooling would now be early January, and that this would result in the game getting to you in the summer of 2019. And I noted that “this is due to making sure tooling is exact and because of the intricacies of the designs for both heroes and demons.”

Additional commentary regarding tooling:

At this point, tooling had taken about 6 months longer than originally projected. This is an example of an unknown we couldn’t anticipate when we laid down the projection. If you say we should have padded the estimate, I’d say we did! But not enough. After all, I’ve seen similarly complex miniatures in our Cthulhu Wars product line be completely tooled in under two months.

Our factory before tooling and in early tooling stages kept provided optimistic projections, until the later stages when some of the minis were not up to par.

Additional commentary regarding tooling: END!

In [early February]2019, I finally received what I believed to be the final, tooled miniatures, and posted pics. [In the next update], only 3 days later, I posted LOTS of pics of the final minis. And I noted that there were 7 not yet approved, as the final sculpts had issues. I wrote: “ During the last two days I’ve reviewed all the sculpts, and all of them are approved for manufacturing, except for the Larva, Gryllus, Stroma, Raparee, Argus, Spider Mastermind, and Demon Gate. The other 49 are approved!”

And then only two days after that, [I posted an extensive update ]regarding the PA minis that are final, as a response to many critical comments about them.

Additional commentary regarding my recollection of my mindset at the time:

Over the last several months of 2018 and the first few months of 2019, the conversation was all about tooling. I showed dozens and dozens of pictures across many updates, and wrote updates about how tooling works. I also wrote extensive updates as specific responses to what many backers were saying. And we used that backer feedback to go to the factory and tell them to refine things.

All of this took time. Luckily, it seemed that we all wanted the minis to be as excellent as possible, even if it took a longer to finalize. The zeitgeist was a preference for an excellent game later, rather than a sub-par game earlier. I strove to keep you informed and involved to the point of creating further delays to address quality concerns brought up by backers. I stand by what I did, and still believe that taking the time to get the tooling just right was the correct call. Thank you all again for your feedback that contributed to making the miniatures even better!

However, in going back and reading all of these tooling updates in order to write this summary, I noticed how infrequently I used the opportunity to mention how this will impact the schedule. If I could go back, I would more clearly state in each update that these continuous tweaks to the miniatures will impact the tooling time, and hence push back the final delivery. I apologize for not making this more clear throughout late 2018.

Additional commentary regarding my recollection of my mindset at the time: END!

In early March, [I posted that]we were down to only three minis left to finalize (down from seven in mid February). I wrote that “When tooling is complete, it is optimal for the electronic proofing to be finished at the same time. That way, we can receive wet proofs as plastic manufacturing begins, and then start the actual printing once the wet proofs are approved. By doing it this way, both the plastics and printing will be finishing up at about the same time, and then they are assembled and put on pallets to be shipped around the world.”

In late March, [I posted that]the Demon Gate – the last one needing revisions - was finally good.

In early April, [I wrote I]had to approve the final minis in person and was still waiting on them to arrive in the mail. I updated that: “We are pushing for it to be fully complete and ready to ship out of China by the first week of June. This is ONLY an estimated projection - not a guarantee or promise. If everything goes smoothly from here on out, then it should be shipping out of China in June.”

In late April, [I wrote]that we were expecting manufacturing to be complete on June 25th.

In mid-June, [I posted that]the factory says they’re about 2 weeks behind schedule.

In late June, only a 2 week delay is still expected. The plastic manufacturing was completed by June 25th but that collation and assembly will take until July 9th (hence, two weeks).

In late July, [in an update]I posted a video of the advance copies that our shipping manager, Christy Crace received. These copies were sent to her so she could bring them to GenCon to show off. We learned by watching these that the printing was wrong – it was missing the 3mm punchboard stretch goals. I checked my specs, and found I had made that mistake, meaning the factory printed the wrong things!

In early August, [I posted an extensive update ]regarding these missing stretch goals and our plan to fix the problem. I noted that our team spent 2 weeks debating what to do about it. Our consensus was, in brief, that everyone will have to wait for the SECOND print run – via a Planet Apoc. 2 Kickstarter – for the stretch goals to arrive.

There was a lot of negative reaction to this plan. Eeek!

My [very next update]stated a very different plan, in response to this feedback. Basically, our team spent another several days debating how to respond, and how to change the plan. The new plan was that we’d print the stretch goals NOW, and then send them to our hubs by air where everything will be ready to send, having been sea freighted in the mean time.

In early September, [I addressed]the other manufacturing error – that of the hero bases. I stated these would have to be re-tooled. This was another oversight on my part – though not in the specs as with the stretch goals. Given that these 8 heroes were tooling approved from our CW O3 project, and the correct bases (separately approved as bases) were shown in the specs, I did not need to approve these miniatures. The factory did not follow the specs, and provided the wrong bases. I noted that we are already working to fix them, but these would have to be mailed separately.

On Sept. 25th, [I posted that]we were still waiting for the stretch goals to be finished.

In early October, [I posted ] regarding why the stretch goals’ printing was taking so long. The factory had told me that week it would take another 2-3 weeks, which would make it overall 9-10 weeks to print the stretch goals.

In November, [I went to China]After returning, I wrote [an extensive update]explaining how the printing process for the punchboard stretch goals works, and why it took longer than we anticipated. In sum, because these stretch goals were not a planned printing, but a last minute surprise to the factory, their schedule of other, previously planned projects with other clients precluded it from being completed quickly. They also may have over-promised to me, when I first ordered the print run.

In mid-December, I posted an updateregarding the hero bases, which will be shipped separately.

Whew! How many folks stayed around to read that entire thing?”
