Hi everyone!
Time for another big and important update! In this update I will be talking in order about:
- The manufacturer decision
- An estimated production timeline
- Demo Events and … Essen!
- Extra’s
The manufacturer decision
As you may have read in the previous updates we encountered quite a lot of problems with the manufacturer, leading into a frustrating period of waiting for promised answers. After prolonged negotiations it became clear there were too many uncertainties and we needed another solution. We invested a lot of time to speak to several manufacturers, requesting new price offers and samples, ensuring quality and inquiring about their production timelines. We wanted to make sure we can deliver The Warp as fast as possible but with a realistic timeline and of course in the best possible quality.
I am thus relieved to announced we have found a new manufacturer and we can finally start looking forward again! The publisher has been very positive about their communication and was impressed by the sample quality. They also provided us a realistic timeline and have already started the first preparation steps of preproduction.
Production timeline
So, let’s talk about the timeline.
September - Octobre:
- Miniature preproduction process starts. This means the manufacturer adapts the miniature 3D files for mold injection production. During negotiations we already sent these files to the manufacturer to take a head start.
- Manufacturer validates our game files with their printer settings. When they validate these we send our files to the partners so they can start entering their translated text into the files and rulebooks.
- Final check of all the English production files
- Rulebook adaption to the final box dimensions
November - December:
- Miniature sample delivery and final validation by us
- Pledge manager launch and late pledge closing.
- Start of production
April - June
I know this is a serious delay as anticipated, but it avoids the horrorendous delays some kickstarter projects are currently facing and we found it important to project a realistic and safe timeline. We are hoping we can deliver faster and are thus aiming for the end of Q1/start of Q2. The key here will be if the manufacturer can finish production before the Chinese New Year vacation starts.
The increased costs has also made this a break-even project so we really hope The Warp will make a splash when released. For me personally it would be a great way to thank the publisher for all their efforts. I also want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for being the first to believe in my game and the continued support.
Demo Events
Over the past month I have visited multiple board game clubs for additional The Warp demo’s (pictures below). The goal is still to give as many backers as possible the opportunity to play the game. Over the course of the next months I will continue to visit local game clubs and events for The Warp demo’s. These are the first upcoming events and I will announce more in the next updates:
- 21/09 Spellenclub Tizanu (Haaltert, Aalst, Belgium) - 19.30 - 00.00
- 16/10 and 17/10 Essen Spiel (Essen, Germany) - 9.00 - 18.00
- 30/10 Spellenclub Prettig Gescoord (Aalst - Belgium) - 20.00 - 00.00
At Essen you can find us @ the Jumping Turtle booth (booth number 1b104) on saturday and sunday. This is located in Hall 1 in the second aisle to the left of the main entrance. I have so many great memories talking to so many of you at Essen 2 years ago so I’m very excited to finally meet all of you (again )

Extra’s
Since multiple playtesters have asked for something to keep track of the final endgame rounds, I decided to make this possible with an endgame card. This double-sided card allows the starting player to keep track of the final 3 end game rounds (up to 4 players) or 2 rounds (5-6 players). This will be included in each base game.
The endgame card
Since all the symbols for the standard multiplayer game can be found on the inside of each player screen, I designed a small symbol overview on a separate card for the solo mode. As the solo mode stays true to the playstyle and structure of the multiplayer experience I managed to limit the number of extra symbols.

Let’s also take a look at the alternative map that was unlocked as a stretch goal. This will be printed on the other side of the regular zone tiles. This setup grants a more advanced map with more and bigger combat multiplier differences and a lower colony starting position.
As something extra to thank you all for the patience, I’m also working on a strategy guide for all of the alien races. This includes the kickstarter exclusive aliens and aliens in the alien race pack. Below you can find a screenshot from the very basic alpha version. The graphic elements are thus not final at all. When finished, this strategy guide will be made available as a downloadable digital file.

That’s it for now. Remember that if you have any questions, you can ask away in the comments, board game geek or contact me through the facebook page here. A lot of you have reached out and it has been awesome to talk to so many of you. Keep it coming!
