The Witcher: Path of Destiny - par Go On Board - livraison décembre 2024

At this time, one tale supports solo play. That tale has simple and optional special rules, which allow Automa to be competitive. If you look at « lesser evil » tale, which is featured in our gameplay video, you’ll see that choosing Renfri or Stregobor bears the additional impact of revealing Alliance Cards for either of them. Automa wouldn’t have an agenda there and it’s moves would be either: random, or handled by too complicated decision tree.

Also, other tales, based on suggestions, may go many ways to twist the formula even more - what if there was a « hidden traitor », « heavy negotiations », « dexterity challenge », « dixit-like storytelling » or « cutthroat 2 players » tale? Automa wouldn’t even compete. That said, we’re looking into the possibility of adding a clean Automa to more tales. The core mechanic is solid, so it will be satisfactory to play even one tale solo, but well, we cannot guarantee at this point that all the content would be enjoyable solo.

:grinning:

Update #3 - What's behind the Lesser Evil Tale?

Update #3|100%xauto

Lesser Evil Explained / About us (Go On Board)

Hello!

It’s time for another chapter in our epic saga as we delve into unveiling more and more secrets of « The Witcher: Path of Destiny » board game! Today’s quest leads us through two enchanting stops: a grand reveal of the true essence of the « Lesser Evil » tale and a short update of… us - the Go On Board company. Are you ready? Because destiny waits for no one, and our journey continues – right now!

Lesser Evil Explained

A friendly reminder that Lesser Evil is one of three variants of the core game. Each Tale has its own mechanical twist, but at the same time, they’re all bonded by the core gameplay structure. If you need a recap on the gameplay mechanics, have a look at this video on our YouTube channel.

Blaviken – a seemingly tranquil town until you find yourself ensnared in a heated clash between the enigmatic mage Stregobor and the daredevil outlaw Renfri. Just like in the captivating lore that inspired it, this scenario plunges you into a whirlpool of ethical dilemmas and dangerous alliances.

The stakes? Sky-high. The collateral? Potentially innocent lives. Beware – in this story, the lines between good and evil blur like an enchanted mist. The goal here isn’t merely to win; it’s to navigate this moral maze and choose your « lesser evil »… if one even exists.

As you align with either Renfri or Stregobor, you’ll draft special Alliance Cards that come in handy. But hold your horses! This scenario isn’t just about amassing power; it’s about wielding it cautiously. Surprisingly, you might find that standing with the more dominant side isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Here, power has its pitfalls – the player with the most symbols for the dominant side risks not a reward but a penalty. A cunning twist that ups the ante.

From the drafting phase to each consequential decision, « Lesser Evil » not only challenges your strategic wit but deeply connects you to the morally tough theme of the tale. Last week, we had a live playthrough of that tale, so if you haven’t watched it yet, then off you go to our YouTube channel.

For dessert, here are some gorgeous sketches and drawings from Agata, our concept artist, while working on the Tale Cards.

Ok, all-in
